Home for Individual Care
A home for individual care or HIC home is bound by the same regulations as a residential board and care facility, but only licensed for 2 beds. These homes are geared more for people with many daily needs and tasks. They are usually more specialized in regards to taking care of persons with g-tubes and tracheotomy as long as they are in a stage of healing and the resident is physically and mentally of capable of dealing with their devices with or without the assistance of a caregiver.
HIC homes are great for people who need constant supervision, they have a caregiver on staff 24 hours a day just like a residential board and care home, but only 2 residents which need care. So if the resident has many needs or needs that extra security a HIC home is a great choice. Another great thing is most of the HIC homes, board and care homes, and assisted living facilities allow skilled agencies and hospice to come in if needed. These are definitely questions to ask when interviewing homes.
These homes are also for persons who enjoy a little more privacy. Depending on the area of town and corresponding state the prices for being a resident in one of these home can range anywhere from $1900-$5000 per month. It will also depend on the level of care you need. Long term care insurance, several different grants, and even the V.A. Aid and Attendance pension can help pay for HIC homes, along with paying privately.
